I’d heard when I left school Wednesday night that high winds and heavy were forecast. We’ve had an awful lot of heavy rain lately. I woke up in the middle of the night and could hear the rain pounding on the roof. Fortunatley, when I walked the dogs yesterday morning, there was a break in the rain, though the winds were still high.
As I dorve to work a little later, nothing seemed amis until I came to the Park blocks downtown. Normally this is a quiet place in the morning, and beautiful in the summer.
But it was not so yesterday morning. It was dark and had started to rain again. And the street behind the elephant was blocked off because one of the stately old trees had toppled over in the night.
It was a testament to the power of nature.
