A cleaning disaster

8 Mar

Despite the raised voices of all the people, save The Queen, at the Royal wedding, God did not  save my Solar Queen.

It wasn’t the windowless room that killed her, though it kept her from being as cheery as she’d been in the room at my old school that was windowed along one side. No, it was my own carelessness. I have a meeting tomorrow and I was cleaning my desk in preparation for my sub. I guess I was a little over zealous and I knocked her to the floor, where she fell to pieces.

I was heartbroken because the yellow Solar Queen is the Royal Wedding edition. Perhaps you saw the lovely yellow dress in the video. There are a lot of blue & pink Solar Queens, but fewer yellow, as you can see in this video, that highlights the charm of the Solar Queen.

The one good thing I can say is that none of my basset hound tchotchkes were damaged in my cleaning frenzy.  I will be more careful next time I clean. Better yet, maybe I will just give up cleaning altogether. I don’t really like to do it, and, clearly, I am not very good at it.

Your notion of giving up cleaning all together made me laugh out loud. It sounds mighty good to me! Thank you for educating me on the precious nature of Solar Queens. I had no idea. My life is sheltered.

I agree with travelinma. Giving up cleaning is a hoot. I, too, had no idea what a Soar Queen was. Thanks.

There really is no other option. Give it up. Next it will be YOU…we can always replace a queen. You will be harder.

Poor queen. At least it wasn’t, “Off with her head.” Cleaning is overrated. Besides, a sub has other things to do than worry about how clean things are.

I vote for less cleaning! Always. There are many more fun things to do – read, read, read!

Do save the queen. Glue her together and stick her back on the shelf. That repaired reminder of why she held a place of honor on the dusty ledge, and the lesson learned from her fall, will endure. My mom once, while–yes–dusting, dislodged a glass shelf loaded with the most valuable of the valuables. Some were shattered beyond repair. The ones that could be glued forever proclaim that stuff is only stuff.

So, this is a post where the inserted video really carried you along and added more humor to a clever, funny piece. I am sorry for your damage, but I am glad you introduced me to the solar queens. The dance-off was TOO funny. Fun SOL.

When I saw your title–PLUS a video!–I had to visit this post. So funny! Not the broken queen (may she rest in peace), but the videos and the rock-solid reason to give up cleaning. And those solar queens are adorable!
