The birds were singing as I walked into work this morning. And a few daffodils were close to blooming, but something I did this weekend was just a much a harbinger of Spring as anything Nature can throw at me.
Sunday was laundry day. I usually do laundry Saturday, but the Rose City Yarn Crawl kept me too busy. This Sunday was especially auspicious because after I stripped the flannel sheets off my bed, I replaced them with a cotton set , in a lovely, Spring-inspired floral pattern that brightened my bedroom as much as the sun shining in through the window.
I am looking forward to the day when I can take the extra blankets off of the bed. However, we are going to be hit with a nor’easter tomorrow with 5+ inches being predicted and another one coming this weekend so I don’t think it will be any time soon
I used to love my flannel sheets, now they are too hot for me. Yes, switching sheets is a sign of the changing seasons.
I can’t wait to switch to my cotton sheets, after hanging them outside on the clothesline! Makes then smell so fresh. We’re not there yet, snow coming tomorrow- yech!
You are an optimist! We are expecting a foot of snow tomorrow!
Living in the Pacific NW, I am probably more of an optimist for putting the flannel sheets on, than taking them off.
I, too, spend a lot of time looking for signs of Spring. For me, with snow on the way, it’s a bit harder to find, but I’m finding that I’m very tuned-in to the light this year. It’s now fully light when I walk my dog at 6:00 and fully light when I leave school at 5:30. That helps my optimism a lot.
Yes! An unheralded harbinger of spring!
I love your use of the word ‘auspicious.’
I loved the unexpectedness of your sheets being a harbinger of spring. And I’m jealous; I’m still too cold to give up my warm comforter, but I know the day is coming!
