Vitamin D-Day

2 Mar

“Aren’t you cold?” my neighbor asked as she walked towards me, bundled in a down jacket and winter hat.

I was outside in pants and a t-shirt, taking Lucy for her afternoon constitutional, basking in the warmth of the sun on the first day of March. It had been overcast and snowy with nighttime low temps below freezing, for a week. This burst of Friday afternoon sunshine, and temps in the 50s, had me feeling Spring in the air.

I stuck my pale, flaky arms towards her and smiled, “No, I am soaking up the warmth and getting some Vitamin D.”

“I’m still getting mine orally,” she sighed. I laughed and Lucy I waved goodbye as we trotted home, a spring in our steps. I’d taken oral Vitamin D this morning. And I’d take some tomorrow morning, too, but this day, I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to get some the old-fashioned natural way.

I’m totally feeling this post, and I can’t wait till Chicago warms up to 50! Enjoy it!

Oh, the sun!! How I miss it!! I’m jealous of your opportunity to soak in it. Yesterday was a bit warmer, but we’ve got up to 8″ of snow forecasted tonight. This winter just won’t let go. Thanks for sharing some light. I needed that.

When the sun is shining and it is in the 50’s take advantage of it. I wouldn’t mind some 50 degree temps here.

Wherever you are, I’m glad you’re experiencing hints of Spring. It’s gorgeous here today—clear and blue—but COLD! I’m not complaining when gray’s away although I won’t be baring my “pale, flaky arms.”

I am so jealous! Every sunny day we’ve had in a month has been a school day, or a super freezing cold day. I need some real Vitamin D!

Yes, we too had the sun the last couple of days, but too cold for short sleeves-30’s! It was really warm in the car though. Enjoy your natural Vitamin D.

Fun moment between you and your neighbor, confirming the different-strokes-different-folks mantra. Mean time, take this link with a grain of salt (unless you’re watching your sodium intake!): https://www.webmd.com/osteoporosis/features/the-truth-about-vitamin-d-can-you-get-too-much-vitamin-d
