I had a moment of panic yesterday.
Do I have enough books? I don’t think I have enough books and the library is closed.
I decided to do an inventory.
I have some books I need to read for the 2021 YALSA Nonfiction Committee I am chairing. There are three books I have to read and four I could read. Others have signed up for them, so I don’t have to.
I grabbed all the books I haven’t read yet and collected them together. I have lots of audiobooks in my library account. Unless this thing goes on for a really long time, I should be OK.
Glad you have a good book supply. Between my bags of books TBR plus what is on my Kindle I am in good shape as well. Stay well.
Yes we definitely need books to help see us through and take our mind of other things. I’m hoping it won’t be a long time!
Yes, I was feeling the same way! I have several books at home that I never get around to because I’m reading the books I have checked out from the library or I have books on hold at the library. I got word that our public library closed yesterday. I stopped at the news and ran through the books in my mind that I have at home.
I’ve felt a similar pang, having gone through my own panicked stocking up late last week. I’m repeating after you, Adrienne: We should be OK.
I have several books I have started and now is the time to finish them. Love looking at your stack of books.
Lots of Canadian content there! I’m so looking forward to having time to read. I always have a stack of things I have bought but haven’t started. Maybe I’ll make a dent in the pile. I am going to put a quarantine on buying books for the next few weeks.
I love to read and write. However, I have not had this panic, because I have books I need to read the I bought last year. I will be ok. We all will be okay.
I had the same panic over the weekend when our public library announced that the last day they will be open was going to be Monday 16th at 7 pm. I almost went in a hurry to grab my last chance of books for a while. Then, I looked around my house and felt like those people running to the supermarket for toilet paper. I have so many books that I want to read on my shelves that I think I will be fine, we will be fine.
I totally identified with this slice. And yet, I could be quarantined for years and still not read all the unread books in my home. To say nothing for the books I could reread. And then I could start sharing and swapping books. Wonder how long the virus lives on paper?
So happy to hear you have some books. There is never too many!! I need to take my inventory now too.
I am a book hoarder, I think I will be okay.
Books are critical, and people are worried about having enough toilet paper?
